Spirit of Brotherhood Church reaches out to people who are far from God and leading them into their purpose through an encounter with God. We believe in God's word and hold it to be truth.
OUR HISTORY
Spirit of Brotherhood Church was founded on February 1, 1989 by our Senior pastors Tony and Luisa Torres. Pastor Tony Torres stepped out on faith with the vision that God had placed in his heart almost 30 years ago. He began with small groups in homes of several families who believed with him the vision God placed in his heart. While the word of God blessed each family, the number of members increased, causing meetings to be relocated to a small location in the Lower East Side, New York. In 1992,
we acquired the building where we are currently located at 167 South 1st street in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Since moving to this location God has moved and transformed the lives of each person we’ve encountered in a powerful way.
Pastors Tony and Luisa Torres, being of Dominican descent, felt the Lord begin to speak to them on evangelizing and sharing the word of God in the Dominican Republic. From there our first churches were started in the Dominican Republic, and to date we have 18 churches in the country, along with the 2 locations we have in New York area.
Today we stand strong and continue to welcome with open arms everyone who walks in through our doors. Our heart still reflects that initial passion for small groups, where we make sure we create a community full of love for all those we encounter.
OUR PASTORS
Anthony and Rosalind Torres serve as pastors of Spirit of Brotherhood Church. Anthony provides leadership for the English speaking congregation and oversees church operations. They love their community, and create an environment where people can come to them for counseling, guidance, and most importantly, for spiritual growth. They are constantly striving to encourage and help the church grow in their walk with Christ.
Anthony and Rosalind also lead our women and men’s ministries, Sisterhood and Brotherhood. The key driving factor in leading Sisterhood and Brotherhood is to guide women and men to live their best life with Christ at the center of their lives. Rosalind’s mission as a pastor’s wife is to honor and support her husband in the calling that God has placed on him.
